Just read this article and from a Sliconomic's point of view I see that the Canadian government has forgotten about us tax paying law abiding citizens. Yes they can support the Olympics and seal hunting. Not bringing to the attention of Pam Anderson who would provide more fat to fuel Inuit homes than killing 1000 seals or 100s of whale. But just looking at sheer pessimism of consumers shows that the government has missed its mark completely and instead of providing support for these people they are wasting resources defending their current mission in Afghanistan from torture claims.
The survey also found more pessimism about personal finances.
Just 13.9 per cent of respondents answered positively about their current finances, down one point from October.
Asked if they thought their family's finances would improve in the coming six months, only 27.1 per cent agreed, down 0.6 point.
And 25.6 per cent described their finances as worse than six months ago.
So what does this show us that even in a parliamentary form of democracy the government can sometimes be inept in providing solutions that trickle down to consumers. That their policies to combat recession is like using a shotgun in Modern Warfare II. It has a scattering effect. Allows some to benefit while others to suffer. Not trying to be anti government here but when has the government really helped the economy. Unless you were in East Asia during the 90's but in that case the economy was promoted by Authoritarian government.
